What to expect at your first posture assessment (in clinic)
Before you arrive-
It’s best if you wear (or bring with you) light gym type clothing, the tighter the better. This allows us to assess your posture and alignment as accurately as possible.
- For men, shorts and a singlet are best
- For women, shorts or tight leggings and a singlet or crop top are best.
When you arrive-
You will need to fill in a new client information form, so please arrive on time or a few minutes early.
Posture specialist Paul Woodward will then take you through to our consulting room.
Once in the rooms-
Paul will talk with you about what has made you want to get your posture looked at, your medical and physical history, any aches or pains you may have, and what you’d like to achieve with your posture.
He will then explain the process of what happens for the rest of the appointment and the following weeks.
Photographs of you will be taken, after red sticky dots have been placed on various bony landmarks on your body.

After you leave-
Your photos will be uploaded into PostureScreen, our analysis software, so the images can be assessed and measured to give an objective measure of your alignment.
Based on the PostureScreen analysis, a home exercise program will be designed specifically to address the main concerns that have arisen from the analysis. This will be specific to what you need right now, as it is based on actual photographs of you on that day.
Within two business days-
You will receive two emails. One will be an explanation of your PostureScreen analysis, with your analysis attached; the second will be links to your easy to follow corrective home exercise program, including videos and explanations of each exercise.
We generally ask you to perform your exercises once a day for a period of 4-6 weeks. Following that, we will see you again to retake your photos, analyse them again in PostureScreen, and modify your home exercises as needed, depending on how much your alignment has changed in that time.
If you have any questions regarding any of the above process, please email Paul directly at [email protected]
